Matt Emerson WBNL Yosemite National Park El CaptianEl Capitan in Yosemite National Park is one of the largest monoliths of granite in the world. Rising over 3,000 feet from the Valley Floor, it stands as a beacon for rock climbing enthusiasts from all over the planet.

From Yosemite Valley, climbing is the only way to the top. You can, however, get to the top by hitting the trail off the Tioga Road from the back side.

The trailhead begins at the Tamarack Flat Campground about 45 minutes from the Valley. At nearly 17 miles round trip, make sure you get an early start and have your supplies ready!

The pay-off offers up spectacular views of Half Dome and the backcountry beyond. If you’re lucky you may even get to experience a climber or two reach the summit.

Another incredible place to wander. Get out and #FindYourPark.
