At 12,000 feet you can experience the lunar landscape of Trail Camp, located at the eastern side of Sequoia National Park. The area is completely void of vegetation and sits well above the tree line. A picture doesn’t even come close to showcasing the beauty.
One of a few camp sites on the trail to Mt. Whitney, typically, Trail Camp is the stopping place before the last leg of the journey to the Summit. From here you ascend the rocky switchbacks that lead up to Trail Crest and then on to the top.
