Matt Emerson WBNL NYC St Patrick's CathedralWhen I was a kid one of our Summer Road Trips took us to NYC. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I was no stranger to skyscrapers or bridges but the size and scope of these here amazed me.

We were only in the city 3 days so we had to make the most of it. Along with the classic visits to the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, we took a touristy bus tour of the city. That tour took us to, what seemed to me to be, every church in Manhattan – not exactly the itinerary that a 12 year old boy would have put together if he was in charge. I made it through that tour, although my mom still reminds me to this day that I might not have been on my best behavior.

I bring that memory up to point out just how differently you appreciate things as you grow up and the importance of visiting places like New York City, which has so much to offer, at different stages of your life. You will most definitely see things with fresh eyes and a new appreciation.

Long story to get to just how awe-inspiring the churches of the city truly are! Today when we visit Gotham, and other cities, we most always end up visiting many of the churches that we wander by.

This is just one of the many incredible places of worship throughout the city, each with their own special story. They are a great place to wander and reflect. I just may enjoy visiting them more because of that tour I took when I was 12.

I’m thankful that my parents exposed me to so many different places as I grew up and it’s great to revisit them as an adult with new perspectives.

Get Up and Get Out! Be forever Wandering But Not Lost!
